Generate images in your document
When you ask the Agent to generate images, AI for Docs creates images and inserts them into your Google Doc based on your headings.
What gets inserted?
- A thumbnail-style image near the top of the inserted draft.
- Section images for some H2 headings in longer drafts.
How do I generate images?
- Open the Docs Agent.
- Type a prompt asking it to generate images for your headings.
- Send the message and wait for images to be inserted.
How do I guide the image style?
Add style guidance directly in your prompt, or set it in Custom instructions. For example:
Generate images for this document based on its headings.
Style: clean flat illustration with simple colors.
Do not write or rewrite text. Costs and speed
Image generation can take longer than text-only runs. Each Agent run uses your plan’s usage credits. See Credits and usage limits.
If images are missing
- Make sure your doc has headings (H2 or similar) so the Agent has places to insert images.
- Check you have enough credits for a run.
- Try a shorter style prompt, or generate text first and images second.
