How citations work

When you ask the Agent to use web search, AI for Docs can include citations so you can verify facts and link to sources.

Where you will see citations

  • In the sidebar while it is running (sources count).
  • In your document output, appended under a “Citations” heading with numbered links.

No inline citation markers

AI for Docs does not add inline markers like [1] in the body text. Instead, it appends a numbered citations list at the end.

How to use citations in your document

  • Link to primary sources whenever possible.
  • Cross-check any numbers or claims before publishing.
  • Ask the AI to quote or summarize the specific cited section if you need more confidence.

Example prompt

Use web search to research: <topic>
Return:
- A structured answer with headings
- 5 to 10 citations
- A short "Sources I should read first" list

Tip: If you see 0 sources, update your prompt to explicitly ask for web search and citations.
